My Two Boys

I am a single mom...but luckily, God decided it was time for me to have another boy in my life. Fortunately, it wasn't another child, but in many ways, he is :) My boyfriend, Nate came into my life about a year and a half ago and changed our lives forever! I cannot describe how wonderful it is to hear those two playing around the house together, screaming, wrestling, scheming, building, and tearing down things. Braedon has claimed Nate as his "bestest buddy". Their relationship is definitely one that brings tears to my eyes. Braedon has a confidant and partner in crime. Although Brae's father is still in his life, he never really played a major factor in 4 out of the 5 little years of his life, so it was so wonderful to see how well Brae and Nate gravitated to each other.

So a year and a half later...they are still building forts, rummaging through the refrigerator (disorganizing it, which drives me CRAZY, haha) and putting on "man stuff" (cologne and deodorant) together. Braedon gets disappointed when Nate has to work late and Nate gets disappointed if Brae can't stay up later when he gets home. I really am very blessed to have Nate come into my life and give me what I always wanted, my own family. I didn't realize how hard it really would be, but in the end, its so worth it!

Just this past weekend, we were at our little cousin, Ashton's 8th birthday party. So all of these "older" boys were there and Braedon wanted to make SURE we knew he was as big as these boys by playing rough with them and trying to act tough. Well, I sure found out how old he thought he was very quickly! Nate informed me that one of the boys had run over Brae's little foot with a bike and through the pain, Brae screamed a four letter word that starts with "s". I had to stop laughing before I went and reprimanded him because my dad had told me that I said the same word as my first curse word! So as I pulled Brae into the bathroom and asked him why he said that, he stood up and walked to the door and yelled, "NAAATTTEEE, WHY DID YOU TELL HER??!!!!!!" Hahaha, I love my boys!!

A little introduction to me

Just a little story that was wonderfully (and too kind) written about me about a year ago. I teared up a bit when I read it because Carly was so sweet and gave me way too much credit!! But it's just something I thought I'd put out there!

We chatted on Aug. 18. Megan had just had Lasik eye surgery. She mentioned she wasn’t to wear eye makeup for a couple days but cheated a little and put on some mascara for our on-camera interview. Megan’s natural look that day is much like her personality. We naturally began talking, first about jewelry and then about dogs. Megan’s mother, Beth Kharouf, and stepfather, Kurt Kharouf’s incredibly sweet 13-year-old labrador retriever Dakota cuddled up to my leg. I had to give her kisses.Giving Megan kisses was her 4-year-old son Braedon. What a beautiful boy with lots of energy! Megan left the room at one point, and he showed me how he could jump from one couch to the other. It was a move I did as a child and something I’m sure would have gotten him in trouble. I didn’t tell.Braedon’s interests include Spider Man, Legos and drawing. “I’ll never forget the time when he brought his first picture home from Sunday school. It had two crayon marks, but I still hung it on the refrigerator. Now, there’s so many of them that I don’t know what to do with them,” said Megan.Braedon also likes sports. “We’ve gotten him into golfing and tennis. The next thing will probably be football, given the history of my family.”Megan didn’t follow in her father’s sports footsteps but of course loves football. She is featured on Steelers TV and Steelers 24/7 and the floor director of the Steelers KidZONE show. Megan is also one of the graphic designers for Steelers home games.Megan enjoys working for the Steelers with her father Craig, but said being “Wolf’s” daughter and her dad's daughter are two totally different things. “His personality on-camera and on the radio is very different than how he is at home. He’s very low key,” Megan said.Megan is Craig’s first born and up until a couple months ago, she was his only daughter. Craig and his Megan’s stepmother Faith just had a baby girl Esther. The 3-month-old is one of Megan’s four siblings. She also has three brothers, Kyle, CJ and Max. “I’m so blessed. I have two families. They’ve been huge parts of my life and Braedon’s upbringing,” said Megan. The single mom’s families love Megan just as much as she loves them and are very proud of her accomplishments. Megan was cast in her first feature film in 2008. She plays a Scandinavian model in the film “She’s Out of My League” set to be released in the spring of 2010. And, just recently, Megan was cast in her first Screen Actors Guild role as a principal in “Sorority Row.” She plays a sorority sister in the movie set to be released this October. “I had the opportunity to sit in a makeup chair next to Carrie Fisher and Jamie Chung,” said Megan. The movie also stars Audrina Patridge.Megan showed me a misprint of the movie’s poster in Brazil. Her name was listed as one of the leads. She said she’s definitely saving the poster. Maybe one day her name will be listed as one of the stars in a movie. Before the movie premiere, Megan walked the stage at Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest reception at the Omni William Penn on Aug. 20. Dressed in a gorgeous yellow gown, Megan shined as one of Pittsburgh’s honored professionals. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation presents the 50 Finest each year to honor the city’s most eligible men and women for their activity in the community and success in their careers. The 50 Finest work to raise as much money possible for the organization, with 95 cents to $1 going directly to research.Megan paired up with another 2009 50 Finest member and friend Frank Murgia who is the Talent Network’s director of Internet marketing. The Talent Network books corporate entertainment nationally and locally here in Pittsburgh. Megan is one of its clients. The team raised $7,100 for CFF by hosting three parties and auctioning off some fun items. “Megan was able to get an autographed Kenny Chesney guitar and the ‘Twilight’ books, autographed by the cast, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart,” said Murgia. I would have loved the autographed “Twilight” books -- I’m a big fan.50 Finest honorees must be single when asked to participate in the fundraising event. So, is Megan still single? Sorry guys -- she began dating a Pittsburgh native who now lives in South Carolina after she was chosen as one of the 50 Finest. I wonder if Megan had to get approval from her father about this boyfriend. She shared a story with me about her first date. Megan was a sophomore in high school and was going on a date with a senior. Craig went to the movies with them. He sounds like a good dad.If you’re wondering, Megan’s 50 Finest partner Frank is still looking for love. The Pittsburgh native recently returned from Hollywood where he produced television shows. Frank told me he felt fortunate he got to meet a lot of new singles being a part of the 50 Finest fundraiser.Click here for a list of the 2009 50 Finest.NOTE: Photos of Megan by Jeff Zoet
